The List: Top Performers Week 7

The List once again highlights the Top Performances from Week 7 in College Football.

1.) Florida Special Teams

In case you missed it Florida beat down the South Carolina Gamecocks this past weekend by the tune of 44-11. Ironically the Gators were out-gained 191-183, so how in the world did the Gators win by 33 points? The play of their special teams was near perfect with the exception of one blocked PAT. Punter Kyle Christy averaged a ridiculous 54 yards per punt on 7 kicks, and the Gamecocks had -13 yards on the 3 punts they tried to return. Additionally the Gators coverage teams forced and recovered two fumbles that lead to Florida touchdown drives.

2.) Collin Klein  QB  Kansas State

Last week we crowned Klein our Top Player for the year’s 1st half of play. Klein definitely came out defending that prestigious title Saturday night in a 55-14 thrashing of West Virginia. Not only did he outplay fellow Heisman candidate Geno Smith but also had his best passing performance of his career. On the night Klein completed 19 of 21 passes for 323 yards and 3 TDs. Optimus Klein also added 4 rushing TDs on the night.

3.) Aaron Murray  QB  Georgia

In a surprisingly close game against juggernaut Kentucky, Aaron Murray had his best game of the year. The Bulldogs squeaked out a 29-24 victory behind 427 passing yards and 4 TDs from Murray. Murray also completed 30-38 of his throws.

4.) Taylor Martinez  QB  Nebraska

Taylor Martinez and Collin Klein could compete for who has the worst throwing motion in major College Football, but it certainly didn’t show in the box score this weekend. Martinez completed 27-39 passes for 342 yards and 3 TDs as the Cornhuskers came from behind to beat Northwestern Saturday afternoon 29-28. Martinez added 65 yards on the ground and another score as well.

5.) Seth Doege  QB  Texas Tech

Doege hits the list again this week after another highly statistical performance in the Red Raiders OT win against TCU on Saturday night. Doege completed 30-42 passes for 318 yards and a career high 7 TDs. It marks the 3rd time this year Doege has accumulated 6 or more TD passes in a game.
